Description
About: Kangaroo paw is the common name for a number of species, in two genera of the family Haemodoraceae, that are native to the south-west of Western Australia. These flowering rhizomatous perennials attract hummingbirds, honeyeaters, and many other birds who eat from the tubular shape of the flowers. These plants have long, slender, arching leaves similar to the foliage of daylilies or amaryllis plants which are able to conserve water and use it to keep the foliage hydrated during times of drought. The flowers are known to be brightly colored and fuzzy with small hairs.
